About us

Our Mission

This tournament is named after Roger Haas.  Roger was very involved with the youth both locally and regionally.  Roger worked with the South Dakota Special Olympics and the state summer games.  Roger was also a member of the Yankton Morning Optimist Club where he chaired numerous programs dedicated to the youth.  His love and dedication for the youth is what makes the Roger Haas Tournament as successful as it is today.  Roger died suddenly at the age of 42.  This tournament is made possible by the numerous volunteers of the Yankton Optimist and numerous community service organizations.

We would like to say thanks to the volunteer workers who made this event possible.  The volunteer assistance is the most important ingredient in the successful operation of the tournament.  Two hundred forty teams from South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota and over 2500 players will participate in our tournament during the Haas Tournaments.  We wish to remind everyone that the Roger Haas Tournament was created for our youth to enjoy the game of basketball.  All the workers at each site are volunteers and are generously donating their time for this cause.

On behalf of the Yankton Basketball Inc. Tournament Committee and the Business Sponsors, we welcome you and hope that everyone enjoys the excitement and fellowship of the tournament and that you will return to participate in future tournaments.

Remember:  Sportsmanship first is our goal.
